The Hobbit trilogy: As the lead of Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit trilogy (the third instalment There and Back Again is due to be released Christmas 2014), the films have gone on to be one of the most commercially successful film franchises in History. The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey had a gross world-wide BO figure of $1.02B and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug had a gross world-wide BO figure of $855M.
